KOMPAN Playgrounds and Generation Rescue Partner for Autism

Tacoma, WA (PRWEB) March 12, 2012
KOMPAN Playgrounds and Generation Rescue have partnered to create and promote relevant play opportunities for children with autism. KOMPAN believes that every child has the right to play – in their own way. Therefore, KOMPAN is working to create play spaces that cater to the unique play habits and development processes of children with autism.
KOMPAN will use Generation Rescues knowledge of autism-specific needs to best incorporate playground products such as their industry-leading spinners into autism-focused site designs to create spaces for children with and without autism to play in their own way. KOMPAN was first inspired to serve the autism community when parents started communicating the benefits to their sensory-seeking children of playing on KOMPANs Spinner Bowls, Spicas and other spinning products.
The Kompan Play Equipment Series provides tremendous opportunities for both physical and mental growth in children who fall on the Autism Spectrum. Challenging but not intimidating, visually interesting play structures will entice children with special needs to try and eventually master play skills all the while providing a very safe and well thought out system. I can
whole-heartedly endorse these fun filled play systems, states Jerry J Kartzinel MDFAAP, Fellow American Academy of Pediatrics.
When we first started hearing from parents of children with autism, we were very pleased that our products could help these children and create a play opportunity that catered to their specific needs. Once we learned that one in 110 children have autism, we realized that we had an opportunity to be part of a much larger picture and do our part to help respond to this growing epidemic by helping these children play and thrive, says Kerrin Smith, President of KOMPAN, Inc.
Together, KOMPAN and Generation Rescue will make relevant outdoor play a reality for children with autism, whether it is at their school, therapy center or in their own backyard.

Thomas Construction Comes to the Rescue of a Roofing Disaster

Bridgeton, MO (Vocus) November 4, 2010
In 2009, Ashley Patterson hired an independent contractor to replace the roof on her Collinsville home, paying $ 5,000 upfront. A year later, the Collinsville Police Department issued Patterson two citations for ordinance violations related to the condition of her nearly brand new roof.
As a single mother of three children, ages 5, 4, and 3 months, Patterson didnt have the money to be picky about the appearance of her house, but never dreamed she would have to replace her roof again this soon. Not to mention, with what money? Doing the job correctly would actually cost twice what she paid before.
Sgt. Bill Berger of the Collinsville Police Department was concerned about Pattersons dilemma, but didnt know how to help. That is, until he came into contact with Doug Miles, Sales Manager at Thomas Construction located in Bridgeton, MO.
Thomas Construction has a history of providing free construction work to residents who are truly in need, and Ashley Patterson was no exception. According to Miles, Thomas Construction does a few of these jobs every so often. Miles continues, these jobs are a way to give back to the community. After driving to Collinsville, MO and looking at the property himself, Miles went to the President of Thomas Construction, Steve Townzen. Townzen agreed that his company would replace Pattersons roof at no cost.
And so, Thomas Construction immediately began building Patterson a new roof. Patterson was enthusiastic to find out about Thomas Constructions donation of time and money. She says, It really touches my heart, because they didnt have to do this. The roof they are building her would normally cost about $ 11,000, and is estimated to last about 30 years. Thomas Constructions suppliers donated the materials, and the company sent four men to handle the job, all of which feel fortunate they were a part of the experience.
